F.A.Q.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost to create
a league for me and my mates?
Nothing.
How do I register?
You can register in two ways:
- Create a new league.
You will become the captain and can control who can join
your league. Up to 50 people can be in one league.
- By joining an existing league. If you know someone who
has created a league, ask them to send you a temporary username
and password which they can do by clicking the "Invite
players" button on their team page. When you receive
a username and password, login by using the "My Team"
link at the top of the page.
How many times can I change my team?
There is no limit to how many times you change your team.
No penalties will apply, however, in the event of scores being
tied, and other methods of determining the winner have been
exhausted, then the player with the lowest number of changes
will be considered the winner of the tie. It is unlikely that
scores will be tied anyway, so I wouldn't worry about it.
Please note: If you make a change, and then change
it back to its original selection, then this will count as
two changes. Also, the number of changes made are not visible
to players.
What is
the deadline about?
This is the time that you need to make sure that any changes
to your selections for the forthcoming race are made before.
The "deadline" is midnight (UK time) between the
Friday and Saturday of a race weekend. If you make a change
to your selections between the deadline and the race, those
changes will have no effect at the upcoming race, but would
get picked up for the race afterwards.
How do I change my Bonus race circuit?
You can't. It is chosen for you when you signed up so that
each person in the league has a different race circuit if
there are enough circuits left to go around. The first few
race tracks will not be given as Bonus Circuits. Late joining
player's/leagues would always be given a circuit that has
not been raced at yet. The circuit you have should not make
any difference anyway, as they all have the potential to score
the same number of points.
How do I see what my fellow player's
have selected for the next race?
Before the Friday night deadline, you can't. It is designed
to be anonymous so that those players that are leading their
leagues cannot copy their nearest rival's selection with the
knowledge that they would maintain the same lead by scoring
the same number of points after the race has finished. So,
keeping each players selections secret until after the deadline
makes it a bit fairer for those playing catch-up. If you have
signed up to receive emails ('on' by default), you should
receive an email from us sometime after the deadline, telling
you what players in your league have selected. You can also
see other players selections (after the deadline) by clicking
the player's Main League Score within your league, or in the
Hall Of Fame.
What if my Bonus Circuit is axed
from the calendar?
Should a Bonus Circuit get axed from the calendar, then a
future race circuit would be given as a replacement. In the
event that there are no future races, then the most recent
race would be given and the scores recalculated.
Why does each Driver, Constructor
and Engine have a value?
This is to prevent everyone picking 'what is considered' to
be the top 4 drivers, the best constructor and the best engine.
The best drivers, constructors and engines will have a higher
value, therefore preventing you from picking all the better
ones. If you want to select a top driver, you'll have to pick
some lower drivers too (or a cheaper constructor and/or engine).
The total value of your 4 drivers, 1 constructor and 1 engine
must be 100 or less.
How do I change my "Team"?
Login by clicking the "My Team" link at the top
of the screen. Your team will be shown, along with the scores
of the other people in your league. Each selection that you
currently have will be a link. By clicking the relevant link
you will be taken to a page where you can select another driver,
constructor or engine.
What are the "Bonus Drivers"
for?
This is to add some bonus points and to give more varied selections
between players. For 2008, Bonus Drivers will be changed to
a random pair of drivers after selections have been recorded
for the upcoming race. You may change them back to your previous
selections before the next deadline.
How do the "Bonus Drivers"
score points?
Each of your two Bonus Driver's will score five points for
each place that they gain from the place they are classified
as starting the race in. No points will be lost if the driver's
lose places. The driver's will also score five points if they
finish in the same place that they started.
What if two
or more people have the same "Main League Score"?
The F1 Challenge system works to a set of rules to calculate
unique positions in each league. In the event of any tied
scores the positions are determined in the following order:
- Highest race score (excluding points from the Bonus Circuit).
- If this is tied then the next highest race score would
be considered and so on.
- If all the highest scores were the same, then the total
number of changes made by the players will be taken into
consideration. The player with the lowest number of changes
will be deemed the winner of the tie.
Positions for the other three scores are not sorted by any
other criteria.
Will you get involved if there
is any kind of dispute between players in a league?
No, I'm too busy... sort it out yourselves!
